Is the abalone shell sustainably sourced?

Yes. The abalone shell is sourced as a by-product of the carefully regulated Mexican abalone fishing industry. Fishing is only permitted at certain times of the year and is carried out by authorised co-operatives working to improve the sustainability of the species.

What is Alpaca Silver?

Alpaca Silver is an alloy of copper, nickel, zinc and iron. It is sometimes known as German Silver, New Silver or Nickel Silver.

Will my earrings look exactly like the photographs?

No. Abalone shell is a natural material, so colours and patterns vary from piece to piece. As each pair is handmade, the two earrings may not be perfectly identical, making every pair unique.

Are these earrings suitable for people with nickel allergies?

The silver-plated hooks are nickel-free, but the Alpaca Silver pendants contain nickel. While Alpaca Silver is generally well tolerated, anyone with a known nickel sensitivity should avoid prolonged skin contact, such as sleeping while wearing the earrings.

These Long Earrings are handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico on a fair trade basis by skilled artisans.
