In this statue, Manjushri holds a raised sword in his right hand, symbolizing cutting through ignorance. The left hand is in the “Gyan” mudra, the gesture associated with wisdom and knowledge

Manjushri is a “Buddha-to-be”, a person on their path to Buddhism and personifying supreme wisdom. In Sanskrit, Manjushri, or Mañjuśrī, means “gentle” or “sweet glory”
